I've tried un-installing and re-installing the codecs, as well as totem, mplayer, etc. I just installed VLC, and had the same problem. I decided to try to just stretch the screen size out, but both programs crashed as soon as I attempted to change the size of the playing video. it closed as soon as I tried to fullscreen it. As soon as I went to fullscreen it, mplayer just closed. I closed the video, and tried again, but this time I couldn't even full screen it once. I de-full-screened the video, and the picture froze entirely. when I full screened the video, all was working fine, then I de-full screened it to do osmething, and when I put it back to full screen, the image stayed the same size, in the top left corner, and the rest of where the screen SHOULD have been was white.

I went to watch a movie in totem, and was prompted to install the appropriate codecs (which I did). I installed hardy (圆4) and am running twin view on an Nvidia 6600GT
